The Training and Development Specialist at Viskase Companies, Inc. is responsible for promoting and adhering to all local and company safety policies while ensuring that the department and overall plant safety objectives and standards are met. This role involves investigating current training programs to assess their efficiency, effectiveness, and results. The specialist will coordinate with managers, supervisors, and hourly personnel to identify training needs and develop comprehensive training plans and requirements. In this position, the specialist will manage, design, develop, coordinate, and conduct all training programs. This includes organizing training sessions, maintaining training records, and evaluating current trainers to identify areas for improvement. The specialist will also develop a matrix for tracking training across all departments, identify training needs, competency levels, and performance measurements, and provide training for department trainers through a 'Train the Trainer' program. Additionally, the specialist will recognize and address training needs, monitor progress, and develop new training programs or revise existing ones to meet evolving needs. Writing clear and understandable operating instructions for job functions is also a key responsibility, ensuring that production operators can easily comprehend their tasks. The specialist will interface with various departments to inform them of problems and recommend techniques for improvement. Compliance with plant, local, state, and federal guidelines is crucial, and the specialist will coordinate and manage all required training to ensure adherence. Progress reports and information will be provided to departments, and the specialist will perform any other duties assigned by the department supervisor or manager. The role also requires adherence to ISO 9001 standards to continually improve products and services to meet customer requirements. Furthermore, the specialist will manage and maintain in-house training facilities and equipment, research and recommend new training methods, and act as a leader, mentor, and coach to integrate lean principles and drive continuous improvement within the organization.
