About the position

The Training Coordinator is responsible for the orientation and training of phlebotomy staff, ensuring competency in blood collection and point of care testing. This role involves training and certifying coworkers in drug screening and breath alcohol sample collection, maintaining documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements, and assisting the Phlebotomy Supervisor with various supervisory tasks.

Responsibilities

• Conduct orientation and training for phlebotomy staff.
• Ensure coworkers demonstrate competency in blood collection and point of care testing.
• Train and certify coworkers to collect drug screens and breath alcohol samples.
• Maintain documentation of training and competency checks according to regulatory requirements.
• Assist Phlebotomy Supervisor with budget preparation and productivity standards.
• Manage payroll and attendance functions, coworker schedules, and other supervisory responsibilities.
• Serve as the phlebotomy coordinator when needed, assigning workload and coordinating breaks.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in a science-related field.
• Five years of clinical laboratory experience.
• Registered Phlebotomist certification from a national certifying agency.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
• Ability to work well under pressure and independently or collaboratively.
• Computer skills and excellent organization and customer service skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Phlebotomy coordinator experience.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Certified trainer for Department of Transportation Drug Screens.
