The Training Specialist will conduct various safety and technical skills training programs, ensuring that all employees are well-versed in safety policies, procedures, and the technical skills required for their roles. This includes mitigating risks associated with training delivery and reporting any safety violations. The incumbent will evaluate employees to determine the appropriate training curriculum needed for safe and compliant performance in their respective positions. Additionally, the role involves supporting the design, development, and maintenance of both new and existing training materials, facilitating technical skills instruction, and utilizing various delivery formats, including distance learning. The Training Specialist must be adept at observing and evaluating the performance of training participants, providing feedback to both employees and management, and communicating with stakeholders to identify best practices for training courses. This position also requires the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment and may involve travel for storm restoration duties as necessary. Overall, the Training Specialist plays a vital role in the development and expansion of employees' knowledge, skills, and abilities within the utility industry.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct safety and technical skills training programs for employees.
  • Evaluate employee performance to determine necessary training curriculum.

Requirements

  • Technical associate degree or equivalent utility experience required.
  • 6+ years of utility industry experience for Technical Training Specialist without a degree, or 3+ years with a degree.
  • 8+ years of utility industry experience for Senior Training Specialist without a degree, or 5+ years with a degree.
  • 10+ years of utility industry experience for Senior Lead Training Specialist without a degree, or 5+ years with a degree.
  • Strong safety culture and practical knowledge of technical skills to be taught.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in various mediums and styles.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and customer focus.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
