About the position

The Training Specialist (PMDB) position at the Columbia VA Health Care System focuses on implementing and coordinating the Workplace Violence Prevention Program (WVPP). The role involves conducting training, developing educational plans, and providing guidance to staff regarding the prevention and management of disruptive behavior. The specialist will work closely with the PMDB Program Manager and other officials to ensure effective communication and compliance with policies related to workplace violence prevention.

Responsibilities

• Implement and coordinate the Workplace Violence Prevention Program (WVPP).
• Conduct training sessions on Workplace Behavioral Risk Assessment (WBRA).
• Develop organizational, educational, and training plans related to PMDB and WBRA.
• Analyze data to formulate specific training plans and ongoing refresher training.
• Provide consultation and guidance to employees regarding the WVPP.
• Evaluate new or proposed policy changes concerning the prevention program.
• Make recommendations for new policies or changes in existing policies.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Must have a current valid Driver's License.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-7 level in the Federal service.
• Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in teaching or instructing in an adult education program.
• Supervisory or administrative experience in a training program.
• Development or review of training/course materials.
