About The Position

The Transactional Banking Specialist I at Bangor Savings Bank is responsible for handling routine and high-volume tasks within Deposit Operations. This role focuses on providing superior customer service, processing various banking transactions, and ensuring compliance with operational controls to mitigate risks. The position requires proficiency in the bank's core banking system and involves both remote and on-site work options after an initial training period.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college or banking training preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle complex problems with a high degree of analytical skills.
  • Strong multitasking abilities while maintaining accuracy.
  • Proficient with computer systems, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a banking environment or with core banking systems.
  • Knowledge of compliance regulations related to banking operations.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to telephone and email inquiries, providing superior customer service and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Review and process incoming and outgoing ACH files, including maintenance and corrections.
  • Process check image files with the Federal Reserve and other institutions, monitoring remittances and resolving discrepancies.
  • Research unposted transactions, exceptions, and stop payments, performing necessary maintenance.
  • Process daily Remote Deposit Capture files and ATM deposit files, correcting any issues that arise.
  • Understand and adhere to NACHA ACH Operating rules and ECCHO processing guidelines.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of critical bank systems such as Jack Henry Silverlake and 4Sight.
  • Collaborate with Treasury and Payment Services to ensure seamless customer service for ACH and check processing.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for process improvements within the team and department.
  • Maintain effective communication with supervisors and team members to ensure timely resolution of issues.
