About the position

Baker Tilly is seeking a Director in their National Specialty Tax Practice, focusing on Merger and Acquisitions Tax Transactions. This role involves pre-transaction readiness, tax due diligence, transaction tax structuring, tax remediation, and post-transaction integration services. The position offers a significant opportunity to impact office growth and requires collaboration with firm leadership and associates to serve clients and build the business. The ideal candidate will also mentor and coach staff, contributing to their professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Work with clients on tax matters associated with integration, divestment, joint ventures, public equity offerings, and legal entity realignment.
  • Deliver appropriate tax consulting and compliance services to companies involved in large mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other restructuring transactions.
  • Direct complex tax research, formulate tax-planning strategies, and perform tax department assessments.
  • Utilize entrepreneurial skills to network and build strong relationships internally and externally with the goal of acquiring new clients, projects, and revenue.
  • Actively participate in request for proposals to pursue additional clients/services for the firm.
  • Operate within and effectively leverage Baker Tilly's matrixed structure of industry, service and geography to develop and execute growth strategies and work in close coordination with regional and national leaders.
  • Represent Baker Tilly and develop relationships nationally, participate in relevant industry events and undertake speaking engagements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required; master's or advanced degree desirable.
  • CPA required; LLM in Taxation or Juris Doctorate desired.
  • At least fifteen years in Professional Services working on tax transactions related to merger and acquisitions.
  • Proven success and knowledge in growing and building a book of business and an entrepreneurial nature.
  • A leader with a demonstrated ability to develop relationships and serve as a value architect.
  • Demonstrated management, analytical, organization, interpersonal, project management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and supervise others, provide exceptional client service, and demonstrate commitment to continuous learning.
  • Ability to travel nationally as needed for client engagements.
