About the position

The Admission Counselor - Transfer position at Baldwin Wallace University is a full-time, exempt role within the Enrollment Services - Admission department. The counselor will report to the Director of Undergraduate Admission and will be involved in a variety of university admission responsibilities. This includes traveling to community colleges, college fairs, and other recruiting events, interviewing prospective students, reviewing applications, and managing other assigned projects. The counselor will assist in enrolling academically qualified students in line with the university's mission, maintain frequent contact with prospective students and other counselors, and demonstrate an understanding and sensitivity to the needs of all students. A commitment to utilizing social media in accordance with the values of a private comprehensive institution is also essential.

Responsibilities

  • Introduction to territory management, with travel to community colleges, college fairs and related recruitment events
  • Conducts appropriate research on territory to meet goals and objectives with guidance from the assistant director and director of admission
  • Responsible for evaluation and management of applicants
  • Interviews prospective students
  • Provides the highest level of customer service
  • May assist with the implementation of admission visit programs
  • May assist with supervising student workers or volunteers
  • Manages projects as assigned
  • Adheres to all college and departmental policies

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Excellent public speaking, communication, customer service, analytical and organizational skills
  • A commitment to the value and mission of a liberal arts education, as well as to diversity and inclusiveness
  • Ability to travel for recruiting purposes and work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Must possess and maintain valid driver's license, pass the University's Decision Driving Program, and maintain insurability under the University's vehicle insurance plan
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access)
  • Must successfully pass a background check

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with social media, including content creation (emphasis on shooting and editing video) on major social media platforms is preferred
  • Familiarity with student information systems is desirable
