About the position

The Transfer Credit Analyst at San Jose State University plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate transfer credit analysis and encoding articulation rules in PeopleSoft. Reporting to the University Registrar and under the guidance of the Lead Transfer Credit Technical Analyst, the incumbent is responsible for validating transfer credits, analyzing articulation agreements, and supporting the admissions process for transfer students. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of academic policies and procedures related to transfer credits, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret external and internal data sources for accurate classification of external courses for articulation mapping.
• Research and report discrepancies in articulation data to the Articulation Office.
• Gather, organize, and evaluate data from transcripts to prioritize transfer credit rule development.
• Run and analyze queries to ensure accuracy of transfer rule updates and troubleshoot issues.
• Write transfer credit rules in PeopleSoft for various educational institutions.
• Verify that all transfer credit rules have appropriate prefixes and effective date rows.
• Evaluate the correctness of rules using the California State University Common Management System.
• Consult and troubleshoot issues with transfer credit rules as assigned.
• Work closely with SJSU Online Enrollment Counselors and prospective students to determine admissibility into SJSU Online majors.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training.
• Administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with student advising or transcript evaluation.
• Two years of administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation.
