About the position

The Transfer Site Monitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the Transfer Site under the supervision of the Solid Waste Management Director/Manager. This role involves ensuring proper waste disposal, assisting community members, and supporting the Transfer Site operations during scheduled hours.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the Transfer Site by keeping it clean and free of windblown materials.
• Assist the Transfer Site Operator with maintenance tasks and removal of larger waste items.
• Ensure refuse is disposed of at designated areas and provide security to prevent burning and scavenging.
• Pick up litter and debris around the ramp area and keep access roads clean.
• Assist individuals, especially the elderly, in unloading garbage from their vehicles.
• Open the landfill during special occasions and community activities.
• Provide basic mechanical assistance to Transfer Site Operators and truck drivers as needed.
• Follow all directives from the Director/Manager.

Requirements

• Knowledge or experience in Transfer site maintenance preferred.
• Physically capable of performing the duties described.
• Willingness to take additional training in Solid Waste Management.
• Ability to work under extreme weather conditions.
