About the position

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a Transit Architectural Designer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing all phases of architectural work, from conceptual design through to construction administration. You will assist project teams in developing both the aesthetic and technical design, as well as preparing architectural design and construction documents. Your expertise will be crucial in applying advanced architectural concepts and designs independently, ensuring that specific technical design aspects of major projects are thoroughly investigated, evaluated, and recommended to meet client needs effectively. Utilizing computer-assisted design software, including AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Revit, you will prepare project designs and plans while conducting necessary code research. Quality control reviews will be a key part of your responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle. Collaboration with designers, consultants, and staff will be essential to meet client goals, and you will provide full support through the entire project, from conceptual design to completion. Additionally, you may be tasked with carrying out complex assignments that require the development of new or improved techniques and procedures, and you may provide technical guidance to less experienced architects and architectural staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project teams in development of the aesthetic and technical design and preparation of architectural design and construction documents
  • Independently apply advanced architectural concepts and designs
  • Responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned major project, including investigation, evaluation and recommendation of design solutions that best meets the client's needs
  • Utilize computer-assisted design software and equipment to prepare project designs and plans - specifically CAD, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Revit
  • Conduct code research
  • Ensure quality control reviews throughout project completion
  • Collaborate with designers, consultants, and staff to meet clients' goals
  • Participate in the conceptual design and provide full support through the entire project
  • Carry out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures
  • May provide technical guidance to less experienced architects/architectural staff

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Architecture or Bachelor of Architecture
  • 6+ years of experience in architectural design
  • Proficient with computer-assisted design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch-Up
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
