About The Position

The Greater New Haven Transit District is seeking part-time Paratransit Drivers to operate authorized vehicles within the service area. The role involves providing professional and courteous assistance to passengers, particularly those with mobility impairments, ensuring safe and timely transportation. Drivers will be responsible for operating wheelchair lifts and securing mobility devices, as well as adhering to established procedures and time limits based on a computer manifest.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 6 months of professional driving experience.
• Current CT State License with applicable endorsements.
• Current CT DOT medical examiner's card.
• Knowledge of Motor Vehicle Laws.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in paratransit driving.

Responsibilities

• Operate authorized vehicles from point to point within the service area.
• Provide courteous and professional passenger assistance, including physical assistance to mobility-impaired passengers.
• Perform door-to-door pick-ups and drop-offs.
• Operate wheelchair lifts and secure mobility devices for clients boarding and un-boarding the vehicle.
