About the position

MV Transportation is seeking a General Manager to provide leadership and direction at an assigned operating location, ensuring the delivery of annual business plans and compliance with company policies and contracting agency requirements. The role involves managing daily operations, customer relations, staff training, and overseeing safety and maintenance programs.

Responsibilities

• Manage customer relations through direct contact and outreach programs.
• Identify, select, train, and mentor location staff.
• Communicate effectively and frequently with location staff and support team members.
• Oversee vehicle maintenance plans to ensure fleet availability for service requirements.
• Oversee safety and training programs to ensure compliance with company, contract, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain routine client contact to meet or exceed expectations.
• Conduct periodic departmental audits.
• Review key operational metrics daily, weekly, and monthly.
• Manage location financial metrics continuously and develop action plans for exceptions.
• Implement and adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Interact with the bridges committee to effectuate positive changes to policies and programs.
• Participate in labor and employee relations activities at the location.
• Provide insights for contract renewals and create annual budgets.

Requirements

• College degree or equivalent business management experience.
• Management experience required.
• Minimum of 5 years of comprehensive experience in operations management.
• 7 years of management or supervisory experience in a transit environment.
• Knowledge of Trapeze scheduling software.
• Expertise in labor/union negotiations and expenses.
• Full understanding of dispatch, scheduling, driver recruitment, and safety DOT and FTA compliance.
• Proficiency in MS Office and strong analytical skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and high degree of multi-tasking skills.
