About the position

The Communications Systems Test & Commissioning Engineer at AECOM will oversee the testing and commissioning of various communications systems for the MTA Purple Line project. This role involves ensuring the effective integration and functionality of systems such as fiber optic networks, wireless access points, and CCTV, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals. The position requires flexibility in working hours, including nights and weekends, to accommodate testing schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve communications systems and integration test procedures
  • Oversee execution of on-site communications systems and integration testing
  • Review and approve communications system and integration test reports
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve organizational goals and objectives
  • Perform a variety of tasks related to communications systems testing and commissioning and systems integration
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of communications system testing and commissioning activities
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders
  • Adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Contribute to a positive work environment through teamwork and collaboration

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 6 years relevant experience in communications system engineering, verification & validation, testing and commissioning, or maintenance
  • Experience in fiber optic and IP backbone network engineering, verification & validation, testing and commissioning, or maintenance
  • Experience in wireless network engineering, verification & validation, testing & commissioning, or maintenance
  • Experience in troubleshooting complex issues involving internal and external interfacing systems

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in rail transit communications systems
  • Experience in radio systems, passenger information systems, telephony, or CCTV
