About the position

The Transit/Rail Systems Project Director at HNTB is responsible for leading the development and execution of project management plans for mega and super mega projects. This role involves building and maintaining effective client relationships, managing project controls, quality, risk, and change management, and ensuring financial performance on projects. The Project Director serves as the primary client liaison and implements the firm's project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA).

Responsibilities

• Develop and nurture key client relationships as the primary company contact on assigned projects.
• Manage financial performance on projects, including proactive management of cash, budget, schedule, and project scope.
• Set priorities and engage required resources through collaboration with Group Directors, Department Managers, and Section Managers.
• Collaborate with office and division leadership to solve challenges and meet business objectives.
• Supervise and mentor project teams, overseeing project staffing and supporting performance and compensation reviews.
• Lead pursuits of mega projects and participate in super mega project pursuits, developing long-term strategies with Client Service Leaders.
• Prepare proposal and presentation materials, leading interviews and presentations to clients.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 12 years of relevant experience, including 4 years managing and delivering mega and/or super mega projects.
