About the position

The Transition Specialist (TS) at Hire Heroes USA serves as a key service provider for active-duty service members, veterans, and military spouses, focusing on pre-and post-employment coaching. The role involves mentoring clients on career planning, skill-building, and job market readiness, while also acting as an advocate for the program to external stakeholders. The TS will spend significant time interacting with clients to enhance their job search techniques, improve resumes, develop interview skills, and assist with job placements. This is a full-time, remote position primarily targeting candidates in the Southeast region.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct needs assessments to identify performance and knowledge gaps; educate clients on job search skills and industry trends.
  • Review, create, and revise professional and personalized resumes for clients according to Client Services standards; provide guidance on effective tailoring and ensure accuracy and strategic phrasing.
  • Develop job search strategies and provide personalized job lead generation coaching based on client needs and career goals.
  • Manage a pool of active job seekers, maintaining regular communication and advising them on the job search process.
  • Provide education and career guidance to clients through 1:1 phone sessions, email, and text, with over 25% of time spent on follow-up coaching.
  • Implement career offerings such as mentor sessions and online workshops related to career exploration, job search tactics, and networking.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of career planning aspects and stay updated on significant changes in the field.
  • Provide feedback to leadership about frontline experiences to improve service delivery.
  • Support events and initiatives by cultivating partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Basic proficiency with Salesforce Lightning.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Zoom, and social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook.
  • Knowledge of career exploration fundamentals, effective job search tactics, and overall career planning and management.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, high emotional intelligence, and the ability to translate career topics to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to gather and synthesize large amounts of information to support the evolving needs of the Client Services team.
  • Ability to create and manage relationships with a diverse client population at varying stages of their education and work life.
  • Strong listening and communication skills, with the ability to adjust style across diverse conversations.
  • Experience with public speaking, able to present on webinars, workshops, and other platforms.
