The Translational Research Scientist - II (Associate) position is a critical role within the Molecular Profiling group located in South San Francisco, CA. This position focuses on molecular biology, specifically performing gene expression profiling using targeted and next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies. The role supports various research initiatives, including basic research, preclinical development activities, and translational biomarker work. The ideal candidate will thrive in a high-throughput laboratory environment and must be highly organized and motivated, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while collaborating effectively with team members. Key responsibilities include RNA and DNA isolation from a variety of tissues and cells sourced from human, non-human primates, and rodents. The candidate will also engage in targeted gene expression profiling utilizing NanoString or other RT-qPCR systems, as well as library preparation and quality control of samples intended for NGS platforms. Familiarity with NGS sequencing on Illumina MiSeq and Novaseq platforms is essential, along with the ability to present relevant data and results clearly and effectively. The position requires a strong educational background in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or molecular biology, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree, 3 years for those with a Master’s degree, and 1-2 years for PhD holders. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of molecular biology techniques, particularly RNA/DNA isolation and NGS library preparation, and have experience with RNA/DNA quality control platforms. Strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and excellent organizational and time management skills are also critical for success in this role.
