The Translational Research Scientist position is a critical role within the Molecular Profiling group, focusing on gene expression profiling to support basic research, preclinical and development activities, and translational biomarker work. The successful candidate will engage in a variety of molecular biology techniques, particularly utilizing next-generation sequencing (NGS) and quantitative PCR (qPCR) technologies. This role requires a strong foundation in molecular biology, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. In this position, the scientist will be responsible for performing RNA and DNA isolation from various tissues and cells, including human, non-human primate, and rodent samples. The role involves targeted gene expression profiling using systems such as NanoString and other RT-qPCR platforms, as well as library preparation and quality control of samples for NGS platforms. The scientist will also be expected to operate Illumina sequencing instruments, specifically the MiSeq and NovaSeq platforms, and present relevant data and results to the team. The first three months of the role will focus on training and assessing the candidate's capabilities to work independently. The position is primarily lab-based, with approximately 70-80% of the time spent in the lab and 20-30% dedicated to data analysis and quality checks. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational and time management skills, be able to multitask effectively, and have a positive attitude towards collaboration and teamwork.
