About the position

The Transmission Line Design Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of electric service through the design and engineering of transmission lines. This position involves hands-on engineering work, collaboration with various disciplines, and the preparation of detailed design drawings and documentation. The role is hybrid, allowing for remote work while also requiring presence at the assigned work location within PG&E's service territory.

Responsibilities

  • Actively promote safe practices and conduct in accordance with the Corporate Safety policy.
  • Accomplish the department goal of zero injuries & avoidable auto incidents.
  • Foster teamwork, innovation and embrace new approaches to accomplish our work more efficiently and effectively.
  • Coordinate project information for the engineering and construction of electric transmission facilities including equipment relocations and replacements, capacity additions, reliability, and automation improvements.
  • Prepare Electrical Transmission design drawings using MicroStation & PLS-CADD software.
  • Prepare bill of materials, conductor studies, reports, and presentations using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Conduct design review meetings with project teams.
  • Provide Construction Administration assistance to the Responsible Engineer, including review of shop drawings, RFIs and submittals.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality design products on budget, on time, and on purpose.
  • Travel 10% of the time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent education and experience totaling six years, or four years including two years at PG&E as a Design Drafter or Senior Design Drafter.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class C California Driver's License (or higher) by day 1 of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in electrical transmission design using MicroStation or AutoCAD or PLS-CADD.
  • Familiarity with PG&E standards and processes.
  • PE/EIT certification.
  • Fluent with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access programs.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly rate range of $43.08 to $71.72, subject to collectively bargained wage increases.
