About the position

The Transmission Line Design Engineer at Paxon Energy is responsible for leading the design and analysis of high-voltage transmission lines. This role focuses on developing innovative solutions to ensure the safe and reliable transport of electricity, contributing to the advancement of energy infrastructure and sustainable power solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptual and detailed design of high-voltage transmission lines, considering factors such as tower configurations, conductor selection, insulation, and line hardware.
• Utilize engineering software and tools to perform load flow analysis, voltage drop calculations, and electromagnetic interference studies.
• Perform structural analysis and simulations to ensure the stability and resilience of transmission line structures.
• Evaluate the impact of wind, ice, seismic events, and other external factors on transmission line systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to select appropriate materials, insulators, conductors, and hardware.
• Ensure that all transmission line designs adhere to industry codes, standards, and regulations.
• Prepare comprehensive technical specifications, design drawings, and reports documenting the design process.
• Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely project delivery.
• Identify opportunities for innovation in transmission line design.
• Provide technical support during the construction phase.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field with a focus on power systems or structural engineering.
• 5 years of transmission line engineering experience in the electric utility industry.
• Demonstrated experience in the design and analysis of high-voltage transmission lines.
• Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE) and structural analysis tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills for technical documentation and project coordination.

Nice-to-haves

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification in electrical or civil engineering.
