About the position

The Transmission Line Designer role is a full-time position that offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing employees to work three days in the office and two days remotely. This position focuses on utilizing and expanding design skills in a collaborative environment with other designers and engineers to develop transmission and distribution line drawings and designs. The role involves hands-on training in 3D design software and requires the creation of detailed technical drawings, including plans, profiles, and hardware details, while collaborating with engineering staff and interfacing with vendors and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Develop transmission line plans and profile drawings.
• Create transmission/distribution line hardware details and material lists.
• Prepare grounding details and master sketches to scale.
• Confer with engineering staff to interpret specifications and dimensions.
• Assist project team members on walkdowns at client facilities to gather design information.
• Interface with vendors and construction contractors to explain drawings and make design adjustments.

Requirements

• An Associate's Degree in drafting or a high school diploma with 1+ years of drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• 3+ years of experience in design/drafting of Transmission Lines.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for producing technical plans and drawings.
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without computer aid.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience using Microstation, PLS-CADD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and/or GIS software.
