About the position

The Transmission Line Engineer will support Southern California Edison projects remotely, with monthly travel to the San Diego office. This role involves engineering, estimating, programming, and mapping input for the work order producing process of the Transmission Section for projects within SCE's footprint. The position is part of a growing engineering firm with 30 offices across the US.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer and design transmission lines that are safe, economical, and adhere to accepted engineering practice and standards.
  • Using PLS-CADD and AutoCAD prepare and issue all associated design drawings, specifications, and bills of material in a professional and thorough design package.
  • Provide project management for assigned projects including scheduling, cost estimating, coordination and quality control.
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal and external departments to achieve resolution of project activities.
  • Issue all project deliverables in a timely manner to support administrative, procurement, and construction activities.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Provide support, advice, and training to design and support staff as required to assist in the proper discharge of their duties.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Transmission Line Engineering
  • Ability to calculate forces acting on structures and equipment, resolve geometric and trigonometric problems to calculate geographical position and direction of forces.
  • Must be able to work independently on complex assignments involving a wide variety of situations requiring sound judgment.
  • Familiarity with computer-based tools MSOffice, GIS, PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, OCalc, SpidaCalc, Solidworks, and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of Southern California Edison (SCE) standards is a must.
  • PE preferred, not required.
