About the position
ATC is seeking a Transmission Planning Engineer to join our collaborative team focused on assessing the current and future needs of the electrical grid. This role involves utilizing electrical system models to facilitate the transition from traditional generation methods to clean renewable resources, energy storage, and emerging technologies. The position emphasizes the importance of reliability analysis, including electromagnetic transient analysis, to ensure a smooth transition to sustainable energy sources.
Responsibilities
- Use electrical system models to assess the needs of the electrical grid.
- Coordinate with interconnection customers to connect new resources and loads to the system.
- Validate modeling data and forecast transmission system issues.
- Collaborate on solutions to optimize transmission system reliability and efficiency.
- Create and maintain dynamic models and associated contingency files for system planning purposes.
- Manage relevant data for equipment, devices, and resources being modeled.
- Work within the modeling policies and processes of ATC and key stakeholders such as MISO and MMWG.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Experience in transmission system planning.
