About the position

The On-Call Transplant Coordinator at Penn State Health is responsible for screening deceased donor organ offers for solid organ transplant programs, including heart, kidney, and liver transplants. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including organ procurement organizations and transplant surgeons, to coordinate potential transplants. The position requires working 12-hour shifts, rotating between days and nights, including holidays and weekends, primarily in a remote capacity with occasional on-site requirements. Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards is also a key responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Screen deceased donor organ offers for solid organ transplant programs.
• Coordinate with organ procurement organizations, transplant surgeons, and other medical staff.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with OPTN, CMS, and other agencies.
• Work closely with the transplant team, including operating room and inpatient units.
• Manage communication and organization of potential transplants.

Requirements

• Two years of clinical nursing experience required.
• Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment or holds a multistate RN license.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Master's Degree in Nursing required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice-to-haves

• Intensive care or organ procurement organization experience preferred.
• CCTC certification or willingness to obtain within three years of hire.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to function independently and as part of a team.
