About the position

The University of Chicago's Department of Medicine, Section of Nephrology, is seeking full-time faculty members to join a renowned group of nephrologists and transplant nephrologists. The role involves participating in all clinical aspects of the kidney transplant program, including the evaluation and management of transplant candidates and living donors, as well as providing post-transplant care. Faculty members will also engage in teaching, supervision of trainees, and scholarly activities, contributing to the educational and clinical missions of the Transplant Institute.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the multidisciplinary kidney transplant program.
  • Evaluate and manage transplant candidates and living donors.
  • Build outreach aspects of the kidney and pancreas transplant program.
  • Provide post-transplant care and supervision as appropriate.
  • Fulfill inpatient and outpatient responsibilities for transplant recipients and living donors.
  • Perform outpatient procedures, continuous and intermittent dialysis procedures, and transplant kidney biopsies.
  • Teach and supervise trainees and students.
  • Engage in scholarly activity.

Requirements

  • Medical doctorate (MD) or equivalent.
  • Hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois.
  • Satisfy the United Network for Organ Sharing requirements for designation as a primary kidney transplant physician, either through fellowship completion or clinical experience.
