About the position

The Transport Driver position involves operating a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a capacity of at least 26,000 Vehicle Weight (GVW). The role requires a valid Commercial Drivers' License - Class A and emphasizes safety, customer service, and teamwork. Drivers are responsible for ensuring the mechanical and safety readiness of their vehicles, securing cargo, and maintaining accurate logs of their working hours and vehicle status.

Responsibilities

• Drive a tractor-trailer combination or truck with a capacity of at least 26,000 GVW.
• Unload truck as required.
• Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
• Follow safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods.
• Inspect loads to ensure cargo is secure.
• Maintain logs of working hours or vehicle repair status according to regulations.
• Secure cargo for transport using ropes, blocks, chains, binders, or covers.
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions following signals from the loading crew.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to vehicles.
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment when required.
• Drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes in compliance with state regulations.
• Couple or uncouple trailers by changing trailer jack positions and connecting or disconnecting air or electrical lines.
• Check conditions of trailers after unloading to ensure no damage has occurred.

Requirements

• Valid Commercial Drivers' License - Class A.
• Ability to work safely and provide great customer service.
• Good attendance and teamwork skills.
• Ability to check and maintain vehicle safety and mechanical readiness.
• Knowledge of safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods.
• Ability to secure cargo for transport.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in driving trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons.
• Familiarity with state and federal regulations regarding vehicle operation.
