About the position

The Transport Driver position at the United Auburn Indian Community (UAIC) involves safely operating vehicles to transport students, Tribal members, and staff to various locations. The role emphasizes adherence to safety standards, effective communication, and support for community programs, all within a supportive environment that values tradition and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate UAIC vehicles over designated routes to transport students and staff according to time schedules.
  • Maintain order among students during transport and follow school policies regarding discipline.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure proper operating condition.
  • Utilize UAIC software to track vehicle fuel, mileage, and maintenance.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with students, parents, and departments involved in the transportation program.
  • Deliver meals to Tribal Elders on designated days.
  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance and safety compliance checks.
  • Assist the Transportation Manager with administrative tasks during non-driving times.

Requirements

  • Valid Non-CDL Class C license.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of experience driving a 10-passenger van or larger vehicle.
  • Knowledge of the California Motor Vehicle Code and Education Code.
  • Knowledge of CPR, AED, and first aid practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 or more years of experience driving children in a professional capacity.
