The Digital Modernization Group at Leidos is seeking a Transport Network Engineer intern to support the Global Solutions Management - Operations II (GSM-O II) contract. This contract is focused on the Operations, Sustainment, Maintenance, Repair, and Defense of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) within the Department of Defense Information Network (DODIN), in collaboration with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). The position is based at Scott AFB, IL, and requires onsite support. Leidos is a global leader in defense, intelligence, homeland security, and advanced technology, and the GSM-O program is dedicated to providing comprehensive Defense Information System Network services to the Department of Defense and national security organizations. As an intern, you will be part of the Operational Engineering team, where you will have the opportunity to engage in various network operations and engineering functions. The role is designed for highly motivated and capable candidates who are eager to learn and contribute to the team. You will assist in performing network management system design, developing methods of procedure, and analyzing, testing, and modifying network architecture to support software and hardware upgrades approved by the Engineering Review Board. Your responsibilities will also include implementing new network hardware, deploying network changes, and monitoring customer traffic to ensure optimal performance. In addition, you will recommend best practices for network operation and maintenance, assist in fault isolation and troubleshooting across various transport platforms, and engage with other engineers and vendors to conduct root cause analysis. You will be responsible for updating Service Now ITSM+ trouble tickets with accurate documentation and providing situational awareness reporting to management. Furthermore, you will assist in Authorized Service Interruption (ASI) activities, which involve collecting site and device data, coordinating technician dispatch, and identifying site personnel availability.
