About the position
The position involves overseeing and coordinating the daily scheduling and route planning of the bulker fleet and other vehicles as required, while working closely with customer service. The role requires direct and regular liaison with drivers to ensure that customer requirements are delivered to the highest standards at all times, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule movements as per received internal and external booked customer orders for the following day.
- Plan and offer delivery options for customer orders to ensure both customer expectations and transport efficiency targets are met on a regular basis.
- Proactively work to minimise late deliveries/collections or missed time slots.
- Maintain regular and safe communication with drivers and deal with any driver issues and complaints in a professional manner.
- Ensure daily schedule is created to meet the business targets and optimise transport efficiencies, proactively updating and changing the schedule when required.
- Monitor drivers' activity through the tracker and be proactive to any issues that may arise, responding accordingly in line with expected customer service levels.
- Liaison with Workshop regarding service, MOT and repairs.
Requirements
- Have experience in the industry
- Have experience of transport planning and an ability to work under pressure
- Have a keen eye for detail and commitment to meeting service commitments
- Have computing skills including IT systems, MS Excel and Outlook
- Have a full UK driving licence
Nice-to-haves
- A CPC desirable but not essential.
