About the position

The Transportation Analyst II role at Donaldson is focused on ensuring the timely and damage-free delivery of products across North America. This position is ideal for individuals with strong analytical skills and a passion for logistics, as it involves problem-solving and improving service delivery and cost efficiency within the transportation network. The role requires collaboration across various departments and managing relationships with carriers to support strategic logistics plans.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze transportation network to propose improvements in service delivery and cost.
  • Leverage data and critical thinking to execute projects that enhance distribution efficiency and visibility.
  • Communicate distribution strategy effectively across teams.
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and train shipping teams on transportation applications.
  • Manage strategic carrier relationships across various transportation modes including LTL, FTL, and parcel.
  • Conduct procurement and benchmarking activities for competitive transportation pricing for LTL carriers.
  • Develop carrier scorecards and manage carrier KPIs, conducting quarterly business reviews.
  • Measure supply chain performance through department KPIs and report findings to management.
  • Forecast trends, analyze risks, and monitor logistics metrics as a subject matter expert.
  • Ensure timely payment of carrier invoices through freight audit and pay applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, business management, or related field, or at least 7+ years of experience in logistics.
  • 4+ years of professional level logistics or transportation experience.
  • Thorough understanding of surface transportation management terms and concepts, especially LTL freight.
  • Proven problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with strong functional knowledge of MS Excel and Power BI.
  • Experience with large data projects and logistics procurement.
  • Direct experience with contract negotiations and rate management.
  • Basic knowledge of DOT hours of service rules, freight claims, and hazardous materials shipping.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of lean principles and DMAIC Process.

Nice-to-haves

  • APICS CSCP, CLTD, or CPIM certification.
  • Experience with Oracle EBS and Navisphere TMS.
