About the position

The Transportation Analyst II role at Donaldson is focused on ensuring the timely and damage-free delivery of products across North America. This position is ideal for critical thinkers with a passion for logistics and problem-solving, requiring strong analytical skills and experience in distribution network design and execution strategies. The role involves working with various transportation modes and is based in a hybrid model with an office in Bloomington, MN.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze the transportation network to propose improvements in service delivery and cost.
  • Leverage data and critical thinking skills to execute projects that increase distribution efficiency and visibility.
  • Communicate distribution strategy effectively.
  • Create SOPs and train shipping teams on transportation applications to support department priorities.
  • Manage strategic carrier relationships across all modes including LTL, parcel, and FTL.
  • Conduct procurement and benchmarking activities to secure competitive transportation pricing for LTL carriers.
  • Develop carrier scorecards, manage carrier KPIs, and conduct quarterly business reviews.
  • Measure supply chain performance through department KPIs and report to management.
  • Forecast trends, analyze risk, and monitor metrics as a subject matter expert for logistics.
  • Ensure timely payment of carrier invoices through freight audit and pay applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, business management, or related field OR at least 7+ years of experience in the logistics field.
  • 4+ years of professional level logistics or transportation experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Thorough understanding of surface transportation management terms and concepts, especially LTL freight.
  • Proven problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with strong functional knowledge of MS Excel and Power BI.
  • Experience with large data projects.
  • Direct experience with logistics procurement, contract negotiations, and rate management.
  • Basic knowledge of DOT hours of service rules, freight claims, and hazardous materials shipping.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of lean principles and DMAIC Process.
  • APICS CSCP, CLTD, or CPIM certification is a plus.
  • Experience working with Oracle EBS and Navisphere TMS is a plus.
