About the position

The City of Orange is seeking a Transportation Analyst in the Public Works Department. This position involves managing, implementing, and monitoring complex transportation-related projects and programs, including long-range transportation planning and short-term traffic studies. The analyst will act as a liaison for the City with various organizations and regulatory agencies, conduct studies, develop recommendations, and provide professional assistance to management staff. The role requires a combination of office work and field inspections, with responsibilities including traffic studies, neighborhood permit parking management, and responding to public inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, implement, and monitor City transportation programs and projects using staff and/or consultant resources.
  • Review and analyze studies, proposals, and negotiations with other agencies.
  • Solicit funding from Federal, State, and other governmental entities for capital projects.
  • Investigate field problems affecting property owners and contractors.
  • Perform focused traffic studies in response to resident complaints.
  • Manage neighborhood permit parking and neighborhood traffic management programs.
  • Conduct field reviews of transportation facilities.
  • Respond to customer, vendor, and staff questions and complaints.
  • Provide information to the public regarding codes, laws, and ordinances.
  • Attend meetings, workshops, and conferences as required.
  • Participate in the development of consultant requests for proposals.
  • Prepare and process various reports and records.
  • Collect and maintain asset inventory database.
  • Perform accident investigations from a traffic engineering perspective.
  • Make presentations to various committees and community groups.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in transportation planning, civil engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Three (3) years of professional general traffic, transportation, and/or parking experience.
  • Possess and maintain a valid California Class C Driver's License.
