About the position
The Transportation Assistant will serve within the NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support, providing essential customer service related to transportation inquiries. This role involves monitoring travel details, making transportation mode selections, and compiling reports to support the organization's logistics operations.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service by answering transportation questions accurately via in-person, phone, and email.
- Monitor travel details for budgeting and disposition purposes, communicating status changes and clearance information to appropriate personnel.
- Make transportation mode selections for small shipments, diverting to quicker methods when necessary.
- Compile information and produce daily and monthly reports as required.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
- Experience interpreting and applying information from transportation manuals and regulations to support assignments and resolve problems.
- Experience receiving, entering, and processing data associated with air clearance requests.
- Experience informing customers of air challenge procedures and applicable instructions.
