About the position

Stantec is seeking a full-time, talented, team-focused CAD Designer to join our transportation group, primarily focused on transportation infrastructure projects. This position offers a variety of designer, drafting, and modeling opportunities that are essential for the development of civil drawings and 3D models. The CAD Designer will be responsible for producing civil drawings and 3-dimensional models using Bentley InRoads/OpenRoads, ensuring that all work meets the required standards and quality assurance procedures. The role involves organizing and maintaining a digital file database for each project using Bentley ProjectWise software. The CAD Designer will utilize their knowledge of tools and drafting to complete assigned tasks, which include 2D and 3D model development, design changes, general arrangement drawing production, redlining, plotting, and drafting using CAD platforms. Effective communication with team members during the 3D model and plan production is crucial, as is the understanding of ProjectWise file structures and modifications for file exchanges. Additionally, the CAD Designer will be tasked with the creation of roadway alignments, profiles, templates, and corridors, as well as CAD surface and digital terrain modeling. The position requires a strong attention to detail and presentation, ensuring that CAD standards and styles are adhered to throughout the drawing planning and production process. The successful candidate will work collaboratively to meet project schedules and contribute to the overall success of the team.

Responsibilities

• Produce civil drawings and 3-dimensional models in Bentley InRoads/OpenRoads.
• Organize and maintain a digital file database for each project using Bentley ProjectWise software.
• Complete assigned tasks including 2D and 3D model development, design changes, general arrangement drawing production, redlining, plotting, and drafting using CAD platforms.
• Facilitate and ensure the quality of the drawings and graphic work produced for the team.
• Communicate with other team members during the 3D model and plan production.
• Understand ProjectWise file structures and modifications to files for exchanges with other team members.
• Create roadway alignments, profiles, templates, and corridors.
• Perform CAD surface and digital terrain modeling.
• Ensure CAD standards and styles, quality assurance and quality control procedures are followed during drawing planning and production.
• Work to meet project schedules.

Requirements

• Experience with civil infrastructure projects - roadway, utility, and rail projects highly desirable.
• Proficiency in Bentley InRoads/Open Roads.
• Strong attention to detail and presentation.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with a 'team player' approach to design and problem solving.
• Ability to work within a team, sharing workloads to meet deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office products.
• Associates or Technical Degree.
• 5 years of CAD experience.
