About the position

The Continuous Improvement Engineer plays a crucial role in fostering a culture of continuous improvement within Ryder's Business Unit/Vertical. This remote position involves promoting and facilitating continuous improvement methodologies, utilizing engineering tools and data analysis to enhance operations and support business development. The engineer will work closely with employees across various functions to identify process gaps, implement improvements, and drive change within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of the Ryder Continuous Improvement culture across the Business Unit/Vertical.
  • Promote and facilitate the use of continuous improvement methods to enhance operations.
  • Analyze transportation data for optimization opportunities and strategic network analysis.
  • Collect data and perform statistical analysis to identify process gaps and recommend improvements.
  • Map and document processes, establishing performance measures and redesigning logistics processes as needed.
  • Drive process improvement activities to achieve key business metrics such as safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement plans to address business needs at Ryder sites.
  • Coach employees in the use and implementation of continuous improvement, quality assurance, and lean principles.
  • Facilitate Value Stream Maps and Kaizen Events, ensuring effective execution and follow-up on sustainment.
  • Design, implement, monitor, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) based on established standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in Distribution, Warehousing, Transportation, or Supply Chain Logistics.
  • Experience with data analytics and reporting, particularly in Excel; Power BI preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with a customer-facing presence.
  • Knowledge of Lean methodologies and continuous improvement tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Transportation Modeler software.
  • Certification in Supply Chain Management or Industrial Engineering preferred.
  • Familiarity with American Production Inventory Control Society (APICS) standards.
