About the position

The Transportation Coordinator at College Hospital Costa Mesa is responsible for coordinating the transportation schedule of Program Aides and overseeing day-to-day operations as assigned by the Program Director. This role is crucial in ensuring safe and efficient transportation for patients, while also maintaining vehicle performance and compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all transportation needs for the hospital.
• Assist with supervision of Program Aides.
• Work with the Director of Transportation to design transportation routes and plans schedules.
• Schedule alternative transportation as needed.
• Maintain vehicle general maintenance, repairs, and keep license renewals current.
• Utilize and teach de-escalation techniques for controlling patient behavior.
• Regularly assess safety and education needs for Program Aides.
• Provide corporate office with accident reports and check safety logs.
• Report observations regarding patients to the Treatment Team and Program Director.
• Exhibit courteous and respectful behavior towards patients and staff.

Requirements

• Previous experience in transportation in a healthcare environment is preferred.
• Valid CA Driver License with a good DMV record; must have Class A, B, or C with passenger endorsement upon hire.
• Current DOT physical certification.
• CPR and MAB certification must be completed within 90 days from hire.
• Knowledge of area roads and vehicle performance, maintenance, and safety.
• Flexibility, reliability, and professional image with guest relations skills.
• Effective communication in English.

• Experience in a psychiatric hospital setting.
