About the position

Toole Design Group is seeking a full-time Transportation Data Analyst II to join their Boston team. This role focuses on data wrangling, spatial analysis, and analytical model building for active transportation and safety projects across North America. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with diverse datasets and contribute to projects that enhance community livability and transportation safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform data wrangling and spatial analysis for transportation projects.
• Develop new analysis methodologies and software toolkits.
• Support a team of data analysts in streamlining analysis procedures.
• Conduct QA/QC on other analysts' work.
• Work on various projects including bicycle and pedestrian master plans, crash analyses, and Vision Zero safety plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Urban Planning, Ecology/Natural Sciences, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in data analysis or a related field.
• Proficiency with Open-Source GIS including QGIS and PostGIS.
• Programming experience in Python and SQL.
• Understanding of planning analysis methods and standard planning data sets.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working on safety projects and understanding of Safe System Approach.
• Web development experience (JavaScript/HTML/CSS).
• Statistical analysis and/or machine learning skills.
