About the position

The Transportation Deputy Division Manager at AECOM is a senior leadership role focused on driving growth, strategy, and profitability within the Transit-Rail sector on the West Coast of the United States. This position involves collaborating with the Division Manager and other senior leaders to enhance business development, project delivery, and operational excellence while maintaining a strong focus on client relationships and team performance.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an external leader for AECOM and maintain a visible profile in the region.
  • Build and cultivate a high performing team that thrives in a fast-paced growth environment.
  • Support growth, strategy, and sale of AECOM's Transit-Rail Services.
  • Embody AECOM's Safeguard value consistently, driving a culture that prioritizes safety.
  • Demonstrate relentless customer focus by developing meaningful relationships and ensuring a client-driven culture.
  • Work closely with operations and other leadership regarding staffing, recruiting, retention, and employee engagement.
  • Support project performance, quality, safety, technical excellence, and business unit profitability.
  • Help build a strong culture in the West Coast that promotes equity, diversity, inclusion, sustainability, and innovation.
  • Lead negotiations of contractual and financial agreements with clients and sub-consultants.
  • Drive the financial execution of the P&L for the Division.

Requirements

  • BA/BS and 15+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 4 years of leadership experience.
  • Registered Civil Engineer in California or Washington.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated leadership and managing large teams with prior P&L experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, capture management, and account management.
  • Ability to build broad and deep internal and external networks, and capable of communicating to inspire and lead others.
  • Graduate degree in engineering or MBA.
  • Ability to teach and mentor technical staff by demonstrated knowledge of relevant technical skills and tools.
  • Team-oriented individual with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and simply to clients, leadership, and technical staff.
  • Ability to balance various responsibilities and deadlines while maintaining professionalism and quality.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in recruiting for major transit-rail projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant technical skills and tools.
