About the position

The Transportation Driver is responsible for providing safe and courteous transportation for residents to and from appointments and activities. This role requires compliance with facility policies, effective communication with staff, and flexibility to accommodate special occasions and on-call duties.

Responsibilities

  • Provide transportation for residents to and from appointments and activities safely and courteously.
  • Comply with facility personnel, safety, and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Report any witnessed allegations of resident abuse or neglect immediately to the Administrator.
  • Treat residents, family members, visitors, and team members with dignity and respect.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident and family information.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Secure passengers' wheelchairs to restraining devices during transport.
  • Assist residents in wheelchairs and disabled passengers into and out of the vehicle.
  • Manage time effectively to create routes that accommodate appointments and activities.
  • Communicate with the Administrator and Nursing Department upon disruption of service.
  • Clean and service the vehicle with fuel.
  • Report all vehicle repairs and any unsafe or hazardous concerns immediately to the Administrator.
  • Assist with CNA or Maintenance duties as expected between appointments/activities.
  • Be flexible and available for special occasions, holidays, and weekends.
  • Be on-call during scheduled days, and arrange for a replacement if unable to be on-call.

Requirements

  • Must have a CNA license in good standing with the State.
  • Must have a valid CPR certification.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary.
  • Must be 21 years of age to drive company vehicles.
  • Must be over the age of 25 and under the age of 70 to operate a 15-passenger vehicle.
  • Must have a current CDL to operate a 16+ passenger vehicle.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be able to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
