About the position
The Transportation Driver Payroll Associate at American Central Transport is responsible for managing the payroll process for over 280 drivers, ensuring accurate and timely payments based on mileage and accessorial charges. This entry-level position requires attention to detail and organizational skills to handle payroll reports, driver adjustments, and reimbursements while maintaining compliance with established procedures.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and input the company driver payroll to ensure timely and accurate payments.
- Review driver trips for signatures, dates, and confirm bill of lading.
- Prepare driver payroll reports for upload to the payroll vendor.
- Add and adjust wages and per diem in the system while maintaining driver pay matrices.
- Process reimbursements in the system.
- Maintain, calculate, process, and audit driver vacations and accruals.
- Process new drivers and terminations in the system efficiently.
- Maintain and process weekly spreadsheets for driver bonus and referral programs.
- Conduct driver payroll presentations for new driver orientation on payroll and trip processes.
- Participate in cross-training within the accounting department.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 year of payroll experience
- 1 year of transportation experience
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
- Experience working in an AS400 environment is a plus
- Strong organizational skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- High attention to detail and accuracy
Nice-to-haves
- Experience performing various functions of accounting or bookkeeping
- Transportation experience preferred
