About the position

The Transportation Engineer 12 (Qualified Team Leader - Bridge Inspector) is an advanced level position responsible for inspecting bridges and culverts in compliance with State and Federal Highway Administration regulations. The role involves conducting detailed field inspections, making independent engineering judgments, preparing inspection reports, and participating in various bridge management activities. The position also requires responding to emergencies and operating specialized vehicles for inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field inspections of bridges and culverts in compliance with regulations.
  • Perform in-depth inspections and assessments of complex structures.
  • Make independent engineering judgments and decisions during inspections.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and documentation.
  • Participate in bridge scoping and project calls.
  • Engage in Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) processes.
  • Manage Bridge Network Asset Management activities.
  • Respond to emergency situations as required.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor of science degree in engineering.
  • Three years of professional engineering experience in transportation systems, including one year equivalent to a Transportation Engineer P11.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License.
  • Status as a Qualified Team Leader (QTL) with required training and certifications.
