About the position

The Transportation Engineering Technician II position at the South Carolina Department of Transportation involves performing independent inspections across various fields and generating the necessary reports in a timely manner. The technician will be responsible for maintaining inspection and testing equipment, completing daily time sheets, and submitting monthly mileage reports. Additionally, the role includes assisting Project Managers with the generation of monthly estimates in SiteManager and participating in closeout activities, which encompass final quantities and the creation of As-Built Drawings. The technician will also conduct construction verification surveys, operating survey equipment during these activities, and will be responsible for preconstruction layout tasks and data collection. A critical aspect of the role is ensuring the collection of samples and certifications related to construction inspection activities. The technician will assist in training other inspectors in all areas of inspection and survey verification, ensuring that all team members are well-equipped to perform their duties effectively. Other related duties may be assigned as necessary, reflecting the dynamic nature of the role within the department.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and one (1) year of experience related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
