About the position

The Transportation Instructor position at Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is a full-time role focused on training and coaching new and experienced bus operators in the safe and efficient operation of buses and related equipment. The selected candidates will undergo a comprehensive two-week training process to become proficient instructors. This role is critical in ensuring that all bus operators are well-trained in operational procedures, safety regulations, and customer service practices. Instructors will assist in planning, organizing, and delivering various training programs, which may include classroom instruction and hands-on training in the field. Instructors will work closely with Training Supervisors to provide specialized training on new buses, equipment, and any changes to routes or operational procedures. They will be responsible for instructing student bus operators on safe driving practices, equipment operation, and customer relations. Additionally, instructors will evaluate trainee performance, recommend remedial actions when necessary, and maintain accurate training records. The role requires a thorough understanding of bus operations, safety practices, and the ability to communicate effectively with trainees and other staff members.
