About the position

The Transportation & Logistics Manager at Black & Veatch is responsible for leading logistics initiatives and process improvements while supporting project teams with complex logistics functions. This role involves managing domestic and international shipments, ensuring compliance with maritime and air transportation regulations, and collaborating with various teams to facilitate project execution. The position emphasizes continuous improvement and employee development within a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead logistics team and initiatives for process improvements.
  • Support project teams with complex logistics functions for projects and proposals.
  • Execute domestic and international ground, ocean, and air shipments.
  • Negotiate contracts with service providers for project shipments.
  • Develop detailed RFPs supporting EPC project requirements.
  • Ensure accuracy of shipping documentation to avoid delays.
  • Work proactively with suppliers to ensure shipment readiness.
  • Prepare shipping documents including commercial invoices for international shipments.
  • Maintain shipping records and file appropriately in project repository.
  • Track shipments for multiple projects and support logistics planning for proposals.
  • Create detailed logistics project reporting and execution plans.
  • Ensure compliance with US Customs and export control requirements.
  • Communicate supply chain disruptions and current market conditions.
  • Identify risks and communicate to appropriate parties.
  • Create Transportation & Logistics Studies with assistance from carriers and freight forwarders.
  • Collaborate to resolve complex claims or issues.
  • Manage logistics requirements and performance of logistics teams.
  • Identify and assess improvement opportunities and champion continuous improvement efforts.
  • Develop and conduct training programs for logistics professionals.

Requirements

  • BA or BS degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Business, Technical, or related field.
  • Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in logistics or supply chain management.
  • Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements.
