About the position

The Transportation Management Center Supervisor at AECOM is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Traffic Management Center (TMC) in Franklin, TN. This role involves direct supervision of staff, managing client relationships, and ensuring efficient traffic management operations. The supervisor will handle administrative tasks, coordinate with various stakeholders, and maintain high operational standards while providing training and performance assessments for the team.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Traffic Management Center (TMC) operations staff and ensure cohesive operations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the client agency on-site.
  • Review applicant resumes, conduct interviews, and recommend candidates for hire or advancement.
  • Handle administrative functions including invoice processing, shift scheduling, and payroll processing.
  • Develop and maintain routine personnel performance assessments.
  • Coordinate traffic signal operations between client engineers and AECOM staff.
  • Maintain 24/7 awareness of control room equipment status and coordinate service failures.
  • Address citizen issues related to complaints and public information requests.
  • Participate in TMC public relations activities and outreach efforts.
  • Report on operational efficiency and effectiveness to stakeholders.
  • Assist in maintaining sound freeway operations and develop special event response plans.
  • Conduct comprehensive training and auditing of operations staff.
  • Facilitate Control Room staff meetings as required.
  • Write and maintain technical documents related to TMC operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of related experience, or equivalent experience/education.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License required for site visits and client interactions.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to project specifications.

Nice-to-haves

  • General knowledge of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and traffic engineering principles.
  • Skilled in Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) applications.
  • Proficient in report writing, technical writing, and management presentations.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
  • Experience in coordinating real-time activities and prioritizing tasks.
  • Willingness to work alternate schedules and be on-call 24/7.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
