About the position

The Transportation Manager II is responsible for managing the dedicated fleet operations across complex or multiple sites, ensuring full P&L accountability. This role focuses on exceeding customer expectations while developing new business opportunities for NFI. The manager oversees a team of at least 50 drivers and is accountable for operational efficiency, financial performance, and employee development.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of facilities and subordinate staff including managers, supervisors, coordinators, clerks, spotters, and drivers.
  • Interact with customers regarding reviews and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive strategy for the project, shaping requirements and assessing deliverables.
  • Plan long-term labor needs based on sales forecasts and historical data.
  • Ensure efficient and cost-effective operation and utilization of equipment and personnel.
  • Oversee asset management, delivery/logistics, regulatory compliance, and productivity improvement.
  • Ensure all customer pick-up and delivery requirements meet standards.
  • Audit compliance of internal and external SOPs.
  • Source avenues to grow revenue with dedicated and non-dedicated customers.
  • Prepare facility P&L and budget, ensuring accuracy in billing activity.
  • Conduct monthly reviews of accounts receivable and work with corporate office for timely recovery.
  • Review customer contracts annually and recommend increases to management.
  • Communicate service issues and workload to appropriate personnel and customers.
  • Ensure proper staffing and support hiring initiatives.
  • Onboard new employees and manage training schedules.
  • Set and communicate department and individual performance goals.
  • Manage human resources practices and resolve employee relation issues.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and recognition to enhance skill development.
  • Participate in safety initiatives and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5+ years of overall experience in supply chain management.
  • Experience with TMW applications preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with transportation/mechanical equipment and regulations (OSHA, DOT, HAZMAT, FDA).
  • Excellent talent management and communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills with external clients.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
  • Availability for on-call duties and irregular hours.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a similar managerial role within transportation or logistics.
  • Certification in OSHA, DOT, or HAZMAT regulations.
