We have a job opening and exciting career opportunity for a full-time Transportation Operations Lead in our Shelbyville, IN location. This position will serve as full time in aiding the leadership and direction of the warehouse operations, acting as a backup in the supervisor's absence and assisting team members in their roles. The Transportation Operations Lead will provide leadership by example while overseeing all aspects of operation, ensuring that all tasks are performed with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism. This role is crucial in maintaining the efficiency and safety of the transportation department, as well as ensuring that customer service standards are met. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering merchandise to customers in a courteous and professional manner, assisting customers as needed, and reporting any shipping errors to the supervisor. The role also involves lifting and stacking products weighing up to 70 pounds or more, working collaboratively with fellow associates to promote the goals and profitability of the company, and supporting a healthy and safe work environment by communicating unsafe conditions immediately. Additionally, the Transportation Operations Lead will maintain warehouse equipment, inspect vehicles daily, and ensure compliance with all DOT regulations. This position is a working role that requires providing leadership while assisting with daily work functions, making it essential for the candidate to possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership by example while overseeing all aspects of operation.
  • Responsible for learning and understanding all aspects involved in the operation of the Transportation Department.
  • Responsible for delivering merchandise to the customer in a courteous, professional and cooperative manner; assists customer in whatever way needed.
  • Reports any shipping errors to Supervisor.
  • Lifting and stacking of product weighing up to 70 pounds or more (with help as needed).
  • Works together with fellow associates as a team to promote the goals, profitability, and common good of the company.
  • Supports a healthy and safe work environment by communicating unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Maintains warehouse equipment to ensure safety of employees; addresses any mechanical issues that are reported.
  • Inspects vehicle daily, reporting all malfunctions or defects to management; maintains all DOT regulations.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or Associate's degree in Business or related or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in warehouse operations or distribution preferred.
  • Class A CDL and a clean driving record preferred.
  • Dependable and able to work with little supervision.
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment.
  • Flexible work hours required.
  • Proven attendance records a must.
  • Maintain all DOT regulations and requirements; including being able to pass a DOT drug screen.
  • Must be accurate and have good attention to detail.
  • Must work in a safe, efficient and respectful manner with other personnel.
  • Follows good housekeeping procedures.
  • Adheres to all company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Must possess problem solving resolution skills and be able to work in a fast paced and often stressful environment.
  • Previous experience with VAI or similar warehouse management or operating systems is a plus.
  • Proficient math skills.
  • Able to work effectively on a team and collaborate with various departments within Concordance.
  • Excellent problem solving, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are essential.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check and drug screening.
