About the position

The Transportation Planner position is responsible for analyzing and managing the region's transportation assets using various technical tools, including Geographic Information Systems (GIS), CAD, and field data collection equipment. This role involves coordinating with statewide teams to facilitate collaboration and management of asset conditions throughout all phases of an asset's lifecycle, including planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance. Responsibilities

  • Analyze and manage transportation assets using GIS and CAD tools.
  • Coordinate with statewide teams and department program managers.
  • Facilitate collaboration on asset condition and performance management.
  • Develop workflows for construction and maintenance procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining asset inventories and condition information.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field with at least 30 semester credits in planning, environmental studies, engineering, statistics, geography, or related areas.
  • Transportation Planner 9: No specific experience required.
  • Transportation Planner 10: One year of professional experience in transportation planning or related fields.
  • Transportation Planner P11: Two years of professional experience in transportation planning, including one year equivalent to a Transportation Planner 10.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with GIS software and applications.
  • Knowledge of transportation planning principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with CAD software.
