About the position

The Transportation Planner I or II is responsible for supporting transportation planning initiatives, including the development and implementation of transportation programs and policies. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, data analysis, and project management to enhance transportation systems and ensure effective communication with the public and member municipalities.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of transportation programs and policies.
  • Collaborate with member municipalities, advocacy groups, and consultants.
  • Conduct data collection and analysis, both quantitative and qualitative.
  • Manage projects and maintain effective project load.
  • Prepare and deliver public presentations on transportation planning initiatives.
  • Utilize GIS and spatial analysis software for transportation planning tasks.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of transportation programs, policies, and funding sources.
  • Familiarity with MPO and transportation planning processes.
  • Strong technical, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management.
  • Experience with econometric modeling and data analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Highway Capacity software.
  • Experience with pavement management software.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.
