About The Position

The Transportation Planning Intern position at AECOM is designed for students pursuing a degree in Urban Planning, Transportation, Geography, Public Policy, or a related field. The intern will support planning studies, collect and analyze data, and assist in public outreach efforts. This role provides an opportunity to work under the supervision of senior staff on transportation projects, contributing to the development of plans and reports that address urban transportation issues.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Urban Planning, Transportation, Geography, Public Policy, or related field with at least three years of study completed.
  • Recent graduates with a Bachelor's degree and plans to continue with a Master's degree are eligible to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Supports planning studies and reports for new and updated plans and programs.
  • Collects a variety of statistical data and prepares reports and maps on topics such as census information, land use, roadway network, crash records, and asset inventories.
  • Works with the planning team to conduct equitable public outreach, preparing materials and presentations.
  • Analyzes data and prepares detailed maps for use on thematic maps and in reports.
  • Conducts concept-level evaluation of transit/transportation improvement options.
  • Documents and presents findings on transit/transportation planning projects.
  • Researches current transportation-related topics at local, State, and Federal levels.
  • Assists with other duties assigned by senior staff and/or Project Managers.
