About the position

The Transportation Program Specialist 3 position at the State of Minnesota involves providing business support and asset management information to various departments within the Metro District. The role includes researching, planning, and developing GIS solutions, managing databases, and preparing reports to ensure efficient use of resources. The position allows for a hybrid work schedule, requiring onsite presence at least once a month, with a focus on supporting the District Emergency Operations Command and Dispatch Center as needed.

Responsibilities

• Researching, planning, designing, and developing GIS solutions.
• Assessing needs and conducting occasional field data collection.
• Processing, coordinating, and disseminating maintenance-related maps and electronic information.
• Managing and updating databases and project tasks.
• Conducting data analysis and evaluation, and preparing reports.
• Providing GIS support for the District Emergency Operations Command and Dispatch Center.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geography, GIS, Surveying, Engineering, Planning, or Computer Science.
• Three years of relevant professional work experience.
• Extensive knowledge of ESRI GIS tools including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Field Maps, and Portal.
• Experience using Global Positioning System (GPS) handheld electronic devices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).
• Requires a valid Class D driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

• Advanced knowledge of GIS tools including Python, SQL, Arcade, or FME.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Power BI and PowerPoint.
